Raul Boesel Leads First Lap

Brazilian Raul Boesel enters the 4th turn on lap 1 of the 1993 Indy 500. Right behind him is former winners Arie Luyendyk and Mario Andretti. As Boesel appeared in the lead a large contingent of fans from Brazil in the stands behind me cheered and chanted their approval in unison.

They can be seen here waving a green and yellow Brazilian flag.
